"Pros
-Size is AMAZING (could also be a con, due to lack of case selection available)
-Speed - The Core i5 430M (2.26) with Turbo Boost is nice, outperforms my Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4).
-RAM - 4GB DDR3 is expandable to 8GB.
-Graphics - The GeForce GTS 330M GDDR5 1GB is an excellent mobile video card.
Cons
-No restore discs shipped with the system.
-No back-lit keyboard
-No Bluetooth
-Screen is too reflective, very hard to sit on my shaded porch and see the screen.
-Touchpad seems a little choppy. But I use my A4Tech mouse 95% of the time anyway.
All non-issues to be honest, but some people might find these a problem
Other
-The glossy finish is a fingerprint magnet.
-The media keys are a little irritating, I just disabled them, no biggie.
-I did a LOT of research before I chose this. My next choice would have been an Alienware M17x, but this is a much better buy.
All in all, this is a magnificent system, Excellent cost to performance. You wont find a better gaming system at this price."

"This seemed like a great laptop! For the money it couldn't be beat but when I found out that the video card, the GTS 360m, was just a rebadged 240 and that my previous laptop with a GTX 260m video card was better I was definitely disappointed. I should have done the research prior to purchasing, I just saw a higher model number and figured it would be even better."
"This computer could be awesome. However, the keys are very close together with only a little bevel and touchtyping is difficult. The labels on the keys are a light gray and are impossible to see in low-light conditions, and though this website says this model has a backlit keyboard, it doesn't. Typing was just a pain and I returned the computer to Costco."
"I love this Laptop. It has enough ram and hard drive space that I require. The NVIDIA graphics card is top-notch. I am an extreme gamer, and for me this Laptop can hold it's own."

"A great laptop for gaming needs. I play world of warcraft. And if you know the game play you know about some lag in big cities. Well this laptop didn't have any lag. I even pushed the graphics to Ultra on the game and the laptop still had no lag. I would recommend this laptop if you looking for a serious gaming machine. And the Blu-ray Disc ROM is an awesome addition."

"I purchased an HP dv7t 2180US from Fry's. HP had installed the OS poorly. I am a traveling consultant and could not "simply give the laptop back" to Fry's to send to HP. A replacement could not replace my software. I had simply given up on HP Support and bought a full Copy of Win 7 Ultimate, wiped the HP drive, did a full install, put all my software on the HP. It took "36 Hours". Then the Fan went out, the laptop overheated and it was worthless. I went to Fry's and said... this is not acceptable. They said "Pick a new Laptop". I looked at this beautiful Qosmio, 18.4 inches of real-estate, a blue-ray drive the HP did not have, harman/kardon speakers, a bigger hard-drive, and I could install my Win 7 Ultimate on it without the hassles of HP changes to the Win OS.
I was sold. I've had no problems with it.
Best thing I admire "lately"... is the backlit keyboard. That really comes in handy. HP did not have that."

"If you are looking for a desktop replacement, this is the best laptop out there for the price. Of course the system need to be tweaked to get rid of some extras you don't need, but in the end the amount of memory, CPU, GPU, and the SSD make this a an awesome machine. The system boots up and is ready to use in about 30 seconds from a cold boot. The Blueray drive plays movies prefectly on the large screen and the first battery life test was actually better than we expected. The 360M plays graphics beautifully. Make no mistake, this is a desktop replacement. The machine is heavy and large, but tehn you get a get sized battery and screen."

"A guy walks into my office, looks at my new Q880, asks about the performance details. It satisfies me seeing his heart break as he compares the Q880 with the Alienware he just spent $3,600 on. This is definitely a great deal on a nice gaming computer.
Everything has met or exceeded my expectations on this computer. I am finally able to play COD4: Modern Warfare 2 in full quality with the resolution set at 1920x1080 and no lag. I expect all my games will be a blast.
I have read complaints that the "buttons" to the left of the keyboard are too sensative or are being activated by mistake. I found that it just takes some getting used to, I used to hit them all the time but after only a couple times I have stopped completely. The keyboard is very nice and feels great to type on and having a number pad is really convenient. It's nice to be able to disable the touch pad with the push of a button.
It's a big heavy machine but that's what I wanted, if I cared that much I could have bought a 13 or 14 inch laptop instead. One issue I have, as some one else stated, is that the screen does not lock when closed. It would have been nice to have a latch or something but at nearly 20 pounds this machine will not be toted around much."

"Although I do very little gaming, this "gaming computer" is very proficient in many other day-to-day tasks such as internet use, musical enjoyment, and considering it's massive size for a laptop, it is quite portable.
So far my only complaint is an issue between the computer and Microsoft Office 2007 Student edition. When I attempt to open a word document by double-clicking, an error is displayed and the document will not open. I have to first open Word and then open the document from inside the program. I have tried using compatability but it does not seem to work. This could easily be a user error on my part.
Aside from that I reccomend this sleek, attractive laptop for those who want to go "all out" on a laptop."

"I am impressed with this laptop overall. Amazing performance and feature packed. The multi touch control pad was a pleasant surprise also. Pluses... The HUGE bright screen, speed and crisp sound. Minuses... the glossy finish is a finger print magnet and the heft might turn off some people. Although its a quad core which might be good for 3D gamers, a faster Dual Core probably would have made this perfect. All around though, a very solid effort and great buy."

"This laptop has some really good aspects but unfortunately has many problems.
Things I liked:
Very fast - it compiles my work source tree 50% faster than my Latitude E6500.
Great Graphics - runs World of Warcraft at full speed with all effects turned all the way up.
Huge amount of memory.
Backlit keyboard.
Seems to run fairly cool for the power.
The SSD seems nice and fast.
Things I didn't like:
No cover latch so the cover bounces around while carrying.
The spacebar is tiny (just under 3 inches).
Keyboard reaction is slow. I type fast and often words with double letters it misses the second letter.
Only has USB 2.0 ports instead of 3.0.
Has touch sensitive buttons on the left side for controlling multimedia which are really easy to accidentally hit with your pinky (you only have to touch the laptop surface to 'press' one). The one I usually hit annoyingly brings up Windows Media Player unintentionally.
Comes loaded with a ton of crapware (I guess all manufactures do this now). But some of it is really unnecessary - for example the laptop comes with Microsoft Works AND a Microsoft Office 60-day trial.
The default partitioning is weird. This laptop has a really nice 64GB SSD - which is partitioned such that only 48GB is setup as 'C:' and the recovery disk takes the rest - instead of putting the recovery stuff on the huge 500GB HD.
Even when not being heavily taxed the battery life isn't great (about 2.5 - 3 hours).
Not necessarily bad - but be aware:
At 10lbs and having a large power supply this thing is a monster."
