"I am quite happy to have this laptop. It's small, portable, and has decent speed. It's pretty simple, which for me is a good thing because I kind of hate using most computers. The downsides include absence of CD thinger, which means if you want to watch movies you have to buy an external optical drive. Also it does not have the most up to date programs like Microsoft office, though they do have a Microsoft works. I guess the screen and key board are rather small, but I like them and really what else would you expect from a mini lap top? None mini things? No. So over all, love this product, and suggest it to anybody looking for a lappy for simple needs such as interwebs and portability."

"I'm a mathematician. I bought the NB205 to do one thing, to compile and render images of LaTex code (for mathematics typesetting) while on the go. I was expecting the NB205 to be small but slow. It is not slow at all! It is super fast. It is almost as fast as my top of the line high end laptop. in other words, incredibly fast. It launches programs fast. It is awesome! The keyboard is great. The layout is great. The software utilities are great. WOW! I am not easily impressed but this little beauty is AWESOME. When at home, I hook it up to an external monitor and after adjusting the resolution settings, I have nice dual monitor machine. It is so lightweight I just throw it in my bag and think nothing of it. The battery will last about 9 hours, maybe more. Wow! The internet works great. I am 100% happy with it. One thing though. It doesn't come with recovery disks. So unless you have an external DVD burner, you are kind of stuck -- unless you can figure out a good work around. This is the best little netbook I've played around with. BUY IT! One note of caution. The main draw back to this (and all netbooks) are there small screens. If you need a big screen with multiple windows open, no net book will be good for you."

"I have used every kind of laptop/desktop possible over the last 20 years, and this Toshiba has turned out to be the best computer for the money I've ever purchased. The keyboard is super easy to key on, and the bright viewing area makes it seem like the display is much larger than 10 inches. My one suggestion is to NOT install Windows 7. I tried Windows 7 on it...and it ran both sluggish and erratic (even with 2gb of RAM). I put Windows XP back on - and it runs quick and efficient again. You can't go wrong purchasing the Toshiba NB205-N210!"

"I brought my mini on vacation and it was great. Besides being light and easy to travel with I was able to keep up with emails, check the weather and even play a game when I had some down time. "This is a great little netbook. The only 2 comments that I have ...one negative, one positive. The touchpad is too sensitive causing the curser to jump when typing. The battery however deserves an award for its ability to last nine hours! It really does last nine hours! In short its a great little laptop that does exactly what Toshiba says it will do!"

"I got my netbook about 3 months ago to use for school and it is great. The only semi-negative thing about it is that it has no memory, but I knew that so I just use a flash drive to save all of my files. It's really fast and gets good internet connections wherever I go. It also starts up pretty quickly. The long battery life is great for school--don't have to carry around a power cord and if I forget to charge it, I don't even worry. Another negative about it is that the speakers are really quite even when the volume is up all the way, but if you plug headphones in, the sound is loud and the quality of sound is pretty good as well. Overall, for the money I think this is a great product and well worth it."

"Almost all netbook PCs have the same spec and function, but this PC`s battery life is worthy of buying. Sound system will be the only problem. Hand-free microphone is barely tolerated and if you don't turn off the mute on the microphone, it makes annoying, hashy noise when you boot up the computer."

"I did a lot of research before I bought this netbook. I have to say that it has held up to all of its reviews. Long lasting battery. Good keyboard layout. Didn't take much to adapt to. Love the screen clarity. Fingerprints can be an issue but what laptop doesn't have that problem. This little thing is perfect for taking to class at my local college. Had it up and running within minutes. If you are considering a laptop, I would highly recommend this one to anyone."

"Purchased to replace my Dell laptop. Bought the 2G and the Toshiba external drive.I just wanted a laptop to check mail, surf net, wifi at the bookstore, watch a movie now and then etc. DVDs are really nice on this little thing.The keyboard is nice. It only took a day to gat et used to using it. Great screen. The speakers are not very loud but if its quiet they are fine for what I need. I love this laptop. Battery life is long. I LOVE IT!"

"I've had this product for a little over a month now, and have been pretty happy with it. The battery life is very respectable, and I've experienced very few problems which could not be resolved easily. I've upgraded the OS to Windows Premium, and was able to get most of the functions working after downloading updated drivers and programs from the Toshiba web-site. I was hoping to use it more for photo editing, but Photoshop Elements runs far too slow. The screen resolution also prevented a couple of programs from running properly. "I was looking for a reliable, affordable netbook. I have had a sucession of Toshiba products and know they are built with quality at the forefront. The NB205-N210 perfroms really well. I do not use much in the way of BuleTooth accessories, so this model (with its slightly lower price tag was right up my alley. The batter life is incredible. I watched 5hours and 15 minutes of movies on a flight recently before the battery gave out - impressive. Screen is clear and the processing speed fantastic."

"After searching for a netbook, I decided to purchase this one. Toshiba advertises that the hard drive has a 160 GB capacity. I just received this mini laptop yesterday and immediately checked the properties of the hard drive. The capacity of the hard drive is only 139GB. I then checked disk management and found that only 139.66GB is allocated to the C-drive and 9.38GB is allocated to the "HDDRecovery" partition. This still leaves 10.96GB of unaccounted for hard-drive space. The tech support specialist (who's first language definitely wasn't English and was difficult to understand) tried telling me that this is where the System Restore features are kept. 10.96GB of space goes to system restore!!!! I also paid to have the memory upgraded from the standard of 1GB to 2GB. The computer came shipped with the 1GB installed. I had to install the 2GB myself and now I've got a 1GB RAM module that I paid for, but I have nothing to put it in. Good luck selling it back to Toshiba."

"This netbook is great, overall. Here are a couple of problems I had. The touchpad can be bad at times, i.e. it lags and skips. (However, I use a Nano mouse, so this doesn't affect me much.) When I first bought my netbook, I had to reinstall the audio driver from Realtek's website because the audio was playing on the speaker AND in my headphones. The manual didn't have sufficient information about what the function keys did. I had to try them out, like the wifi switch. Lastly, it would have been better for me to get a SSHD in it, since I use it in my car as an mp3 player. On the upside, I like the fact that you can upgrade to 2GB of ram. (Though 1GB is sufficient for internet, music, etc.) The keyboard is an excellent size for a laptop, and easy to use, not too small. The battery life is pretty long (6-cell). When everyone else doesn't want to lug their widescreen 19" laptops around, I can still carry mine very easily in the case I bought for it. That reminds me, the screen ratio is excellent. Hope this helps."

"I have two basic complaints; otherwise it is a great little computer. 1. Touchpad does not respond if my fingers are dry. I have to add lotion or wet them. 2. It has too much Toshiba software and I do not know what I can delete without interfering with the operating systems. Some people love all the bells and whistles, but others just want a computer. "We have had our NB205+210 for just over a month. We took it to Europe. It performed very well. It will never replace a true computer, but for a lightweight, easy to handle means of communication, it is great. The keyboard is full-size and easy to use. The 3 USB ports are great for a wireless mouse and a memory stick or two. It is slower than a laptop when connecting to the Internet, but it was flawless, regardless of where we tried to connect. It runs MS Office just fine. I can't speak for the touchpad, as I find them useless on all computers. The mouse is so much easier, faster and more accurate. So far, no problems. I feel we made a great choice."

"When traveling, I wanted more robust access to email and the internet than my BB provided, but I didn't want to lug around my full size laptop. The Toshiba mini is the perfect solution with a near full size keyboard, crystal clear screen, and the ability to add other features with USB. I also purchased the external DVD. "The time and effort I spent researching different netbooks on the internet and hands-on review of the NB205 at stores was worth it. Of course, I was enticed by more expensive netbooks. However, I set a cap on what I was able to spend and I certainly received twofold what I wanted. "I purchased this Mini-laptop Online from a major retailer, and didn't know what to expect. All of my expectations have been exceeded. On a visual comparison from this toshiba to the others netbooks, you can see a far better build. Keyboard and buttons are all solid and firm with a nice sparkle finish. The top lid is a nice glossy black and resembles carbon fiber.... It's 10" screen is a perfects size and it is crisp and clear. Unlike some netbooks with the tiny 8" screen; which i think is too small... The built in webcam is perfect for all of your video calling and chats. Now performance wise, i cannont complain. Even though it is a 1.66ghz processor, and with 1Gb of ram, it still is unbelievably quick. And I have heard of a certain reviewer who does multi-tasking without any problems whatsoever... Internet connections are in an instant. You'll be browsing the net just as soon as u can open the lid. 160gb of storage is plentious for all of your pictures,files, movies, etc..... Now add energy star rating, a 9 hour battery ,great price, and lightweight, and you have one of the best, (if not the best) mini laptops out there......."

"This notebook has great portability. The wireless features run smoothly and I have had no problem connecting with fast signal. Being in school the battery life is also a plus when taking it to classes. On the other hand, the battery sits loosely on the body of the computer. The computer itself heats up rather quickly considering its size and minimal power usage. The main annoyance about it would be the power button in the middle of the screen which is really bright when in darker settings. There should at least be a way to shut the light off during use. Overall pretty happy with the laptop."

"I researched all the netbooks and this one stood out. I like that the battery life lasted for 8 hours and it was easy to use. I was able to get the accessories that I needed from the website. My wife is the that uses the computer and shes loves it. It was easy to setup the wireless network, the keyboard is a good size and she mainly uses it for the internet. "I am a heat and air technician for large commerical units and have to lug around a 17" to rooftops to access and troubleshoot units. With this mini, I leave my 17" in the shop and link to it to access the units using a wireless broadband. Much better than carring my 17" up on rooftops. The atom processor is not as fast as my 2.0 gig intel processor, but it works fine. I would buy again, and will probable buy one for each of my tech guys."

"This is my fourth netbook, 15th laptop, and 23rd computer since 1990. The N210 is by far the best netbook I have ever owned, and ranks among the best four laptops I have ever owned as well. The pluses for this system include the build construction, price and unbelieveable battery life. The only real con is that it can take a while to boot up (of course compared to Vista it is a speed demon). The length in boot up is probably from all of the Toshiba branded software preloaded on the system. I would prefer Toshiba put all of that on a authenticated server, so I could pick and choose what I want/need. With that said, I am being extremely picky here... Overall a best buy and highly recommend."

"I love my little netbook, and I bought this particular model for its battery life. I haven't used it for a straight six-plus hours, but when I leave it closed in sleep mode, it seems to lose some charge. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to function. I'm a Mac person, not a PC, so there still are several mysteries with this netbook that I have yet to get to the bottom of. "The setup was extremely troublesome and taxing. The keyboard has a loose key that appears to require sending the unit back. The is a great web surfing machine and I love the chicklet keyboard. The reason for the 8 rating is the touchpad, sometime it works fine and then sometimes it hangs for a few seconds. "Greetings! I bought this mini notebook mini NB205-N310BN based on Laptop Magazine recommendation and Toshiba reputation. Overall I am moderately happy with it. Major reason of amazement is long battery life but few things prevents me from recommending it to others. First, very bad design of keyboard. It looks great but lacks support (especially in lower right corner) and bending dramatically while typing. Second its it internal speaker. It is so weak that actually it would be better if Toshiba advertised it as netbook without a speaker. Third is the battery leakage. Even when turned off its using power (sic!) so only way to transport is with battery removed to preserve charge. Also, looks like there is enough space in the lid to put bigger screen. Apart from things mentioned above it is OK as I guess you cant expect much from any netbook these days."

"Great compact size with a very usable keyboard and long battery life make this a good travel companion. Screen size could be larger without increasing the overall size (large borders). Turning on wifi by pressing fn-F8 was difficult to figure out without going to the Internet for help. Others are having this problem and better highlighted instructions would have helped. Most notable, this netbook suffers the same jumping cursor problem many other brands of portables with touchpads are having. Problem is due to the oversensitivity of the touchpad and keyboard vibration from typing causing the cursor to jump randomly in a document, even when the touchpad is not touched. Turing down the sensitivity is not the desired answer. Installation of the free program TouchFreeze solves this problem and can be easily found with a Google search. This problem has existed since at least 2005 based on computer problem forums, and it is disappointing that no official solution has been implemented."

"I love this unit. works great. I love the blue tooth for my mouse it keeps my USB availible for other things. Battery life is great. I can run all day. I really like the key board. I can find the keys easier with the seperations. The only draw back is the screen touches the keys when the lid is shut and I am beginning to see squares rubbed onto my screen. "I had a DELL Mini 10 and sold it because of bad battery life and a horrible touchpad. Toshiba's touchpad is much better, but still isn't great. The scroll feature just doesn't work. A coworker has the same laptop and also has trouble with the scroll feature of the touchpad. They say this laptop has a nine hour battery life. I haven't tested it, but I also don't doubt it. I lasts a LONG time. It does come with a TON of Toshiba driver/cutsie software that needs to be installed if the system is rebuilt. This software can be disabled/removed from the startup items by the tech savvy to speed it up. It is a fast system and after a rebuild and a 2GB RAM upgrade it's even faster! Pros: Battery life, keyboard, screen, speed, easily upgradable (memory and hard drive) Cons: Horrible touchpad scroll (just doesn't work), bad web site (drives section), tons of Toshiba software"

"This is my second Toshiba laptop and I love the light weight and small size of my mini as I use it when I observe student teachers in their field work. It is easy to carry and yet the keys feel like a regular laptop. I also use the my MS Office applications to project documents when I am teaching my university class. At night I can put the mini in my lap and check email and browse the web easily. Recently my husband was working in Calgary and we did nightly video calls through Skype, instead of racking up international minutes on our cell plan. It was great."

"The NB205-N310BN is a good choice for someone on the move who wants to get work done and stay in touch. The slightly reduced sized keypad is easily mastered with the exception of a couple of awkwardly placed function keys. The matte surfaces are infinitely more aesthetic than the glossy ones of the competition. Glare and reflection is sometimes a problem on the glossy screen. The sensitivity of the mouse pad seems incredibly sensitive at times and unresponsive at others, but I could just need more adjustment time as I generally use a desk top computer. I also appreciate having ready access to the memory stick and hard drive."

"I chose this model over all the others, even though it is heavier than some, because of the stainless steel keys that feel more like my desktop or like a typewriter than the other models do. I bought it to travel and have e-mail access w/o lugging my Toshiba laptop. "The NB205 surprised me with the enormous jump in speed from my previous Toshiba Satellite Pro. As far as computing goes this machine is fantastic, and the battery life is a big plus. Where the NB205 really shines is in commuting between home and work. You barely notice the weight when commuting by bicycle. The size and weight were definitely a major selling point. What set the NB205 apart from other netbooks is the keyboard geometry. By having a separation between keys, the keyboard feels larger than it actually is. The track pad is a major complaint. The sensitivity of the pad seems to be inversely proportional to the amount that you want it to work. When you are typing and do not want the track pad to work, it picks up the slightest touch. When trying to drag a cursor, or icon it frequently does not work at a satisfactory level. I think the old eraser mouse is superior to most track pads. Regardless, given the small size of this machine, and the poor quality of the track pad, the eraser would likely be preferred by even the most ardent supporter of the track pad."

"I love this netbook, use it every day for email, browsing the web and as a portable system for writing code. 4 Stars on overall rating because, while I knew about it, the published dimensions do not include the battery sticking out the back; same battery also makes it look and feel clunkier. "I bought this netbook to fill the need of a computer in those difficult places on campus, on trips, and at conferences. Many laptops have stronger processors or more memory, but this device is a great tool for a developer with a more powerful machine at home. I don't need an optical drive - thumb drives, streaming media, and network storage work well enough. I'm not programming on this machine, but I am doing some web work and lightweight program tasks like subversion tagging or looking at a completed application. My lab is mostly Macs, so this also complements that by putting another system in the situation. This is a highly mobile device. There is a good built-in power management tool. I use the "normal" mode, tweaked to go to standby instead of hibernate when I close the lid. This makes it so when I open the lid the system is ready to go in less than 5 seconds, with the network online in a few seconds more. I use the "presentation" mode for teaching a couple classes as a TA; the presets make sense and are more accessible than the Windows power settings. One issue I have found is when recovering from standby, sometimes the trackpad acts funny for a bit; the mouse doesn't seem to move with my finger quite right. However, this tapers off after a little while. In general, the trackpad is good. I like the built-in Bluetooth and webcam. The keyboard is comfortable (I've heard this is an issue on some other netbooks). I find the arrow keys are in a good spot, and the page up and down keys are so handy that I use them more than a regular computer! The battery life is long enough that I only charge at night; I don't bring the cable to school. I'm looking forward to using it on a trip!"

"I bought the NB205 based on the strengths of its reviews before it was actually released. I ordered it on the release day, and for the most part, I have not been unimpressed. It's reasonably speedy for a netbook, the battery life is excellent, the keyboard is only slightly irritating. Given the limitations of its form factor, it is a very good netbook. However, if you wish to load linux or BSD on it, I would recommend looking elsewhere. At the time of this review, the wireless chipset is only tenuously supported in the newest kernel, and wireless connections are ephemeral, dropping after about 15 minutes. In addition, the received signal strength was generally around 40% lower than another laptop I had next to it. The wired ethernet was more stable, but after I installed the wireless chipset drivers, the wired connection stopped working. I'm not sure if it's related or not, and will be installing XP again to check, but I imagine it's a linux driver issue given the timing."

"I love the size of this unit. The battery life is great and it performs well in the areas it was designed for. I do have a couple of complaints though. I wounder why Toshiba was not able to load the full versions of the Office 2007. Some documents dont open properly and it would be nice to have the full versions of that program. The other complaint is really annoying. The touch pad is really troublesome at times. For instance, while typing the cursor will move to another location in what was previously typed causing me to have to back space, move the cursor and retype. The other problem with the touchpad is that is acts weird sometimes by not responding like it is stuck or moving crazy on the screen. While on the web, at times moving the cursor with the touchpad causes clicking on a page or redirecting to a site."

"The Toshiba NB205 is a fun little machine that has the memory to do a lot in a small space. I personally like XP far better than Vista so, I'm enjoying using it for my business on the go. I had trouble getting the ATT Wireless modem to work properly for several weeks, but the ATT people finally solved the problem for me. The one major drawback is the lack of memory along with the numerous "background" programs installed. I had to go in a remove a lot of trash in order to get the 1 meg to work. I'm seriously considering ordering the 2 meg and would recommend that it be made standard in this or any future machines. Also, the processor is extremely slow (1.5 Ghz). I understand the principle, but having to wait interminable amounts of time for web sites to load is a pain--and it's not the 3G network since it takes just as long to load from Wifi and from direct lines. I've tried them all. Overall, I like the convenience of being ableto work on my one hour ten minute train commute to work with access to the internet. The battery life is phenomenal and is one of the reasons I bought it. The keyboard takes some getting used to because it is slightly smaller and a bit cramped. Also, the touch table is far too sensitive. I haven't figured out how to adjust it, yet. If you breathe on it, something will happen you didn't intend. "I love this little netbook. Great battery life, easy to type on lots of great features. Everyone that sees it wants one of there own. I own a HP 17" laptop with a high end video card I use for games but I end up using the Toshiba for everything else. I take it everywhere with me. I just put a new motherboard in my HP after two years. If this PC holds up longer than my HP my next big laptop will be TOSHIBA. Seems to be a quality build so far. Here in Costa Rica the tempurature and humidity can really take a toll on laptops. The only one that has lasted more than two and a half years without replacing the motherboard is my Itronics Gobook which is completly waterproof and made for the military."

I find that the curser will wander and ofte just jump from one place to another causing words to be spilt and started in the middle of other words. It is fast, clear screen and fun to use otherwise. "After doing some research on netbooks, I am glad I purchased the NB205-N312 in a cool blue color. The size is super portable (fits in a large purse) and the battery life is pretty decent. I pretty much use this for leisure travel only - download photos from digital camera, internet access and watching downloaded movies. It's definately not a substitute for a primary computer but I find I use this around the house when wanting to check email or look up recipes instead of sitting infront of my desktop computer. No CD/DVD drive, but if needed available for purchase. The value is good for what you get and is competitive with other brands. The longer battery life (6-cell Li-Ion) is what edged this brand over the others. Lots of additional accessories (USB hub, additional memory, external hard drives) available."

"I'm not the most tech savvy person around but so far I haven't had any issues with my new netbook. I bought an external hard-drive and Microsoft Office Executive and was excited to get it running all by myself (no children required). For what i've done with it so far: research, web-serving and a little bit in Word - it's been great. Regarding the computer itself - I love the blue color and matte finish. Unlike the computer gurus, I don't have a problem with the battery "hump". The battery life is great. The only complaint that I would have is that the keys are so smooth that my hands tend to slide around alot. I can't wait for my next flight - excited to not be carrying my 17" laptop through airports anymore."

"I purchased the netbook, it came in and the on/off switch did not work. I needed it immediately so I had to purchase another one and send the first one back for a credit. A real hassle. The second one came in and I am just moderately happy as it seems sluggish and the bluetooth mouse and Keyboard accessories I bought do not respond as well as I think they should. I purchased the extra mg of memory to ensure I had enough and it still seems slow. So, time will tell whether I am satisfied or not."

"I read many reviews before deciding on this Toshiba. I'm very happy with it. It's lightweight, doesn't get hot when running and the battery life is unbelievable. I wasn't expecting the computing power of my bigger notebook however it performs better than I had expected. Like anything new it takes a little adjusting to but overall this is a great little netbook. I chose not to buy a netbook with a wireless card because I can use my phone to connect when there's not an available WiFi connection. ( I already have an unlimited media phone plan). ""Pound for pound and dollar for dollar this machine is a winner. I researched all makes and models and basically narrowed it down to 4 makers; Dell, Acer, HP, and Toshiba. While there were specific things about each that stood out, overall the best total package (all things considered) was the Toshiba. The keyboard and the 6 cell battery were the clinchers for me. Although many people on other reviews dinged it for the battery protruding from the back, I didn't find it to be a big problem except for trying to buy a neoprene sleeve that would fit. I immediately upgraded the memory to 2 GB even before I turned the unit on for the first time. "Going from a Toshiba Satellite (17" screen, good sound, DVD RW etc) to a mini Notebook takes some getting use to. It's convenient to use on the go, light weight, fast processor, overall a very nice laptop. I wish the salesman that convinced me to buy a Mini Notebook would have been a little more informative as far as what a BIG difference there is between Mini's and standard laptops. "Really nice netbook. Excellent design. I espeically like the key board since I can adjust to use it quickly from using a full size desktop keyboard. Super battery life, sometimes I can use it for two days without charging it. The only shortcomes I can think of are: (1). I hope Toshiba later can use a higer resolution LCD since the vertical 600 points sometimes could not display a dialog window fully. (2) The touch pad, it is not that responsive, and the two buttons are at the bottom so it is very easy to "press" them in error."

"I really like my new netbook. It fits in my purse, the battery lasts all day, it's faster than my labtop and It does all I need. I like the camera features and that I can connect a projector to it if I need to. The only things is I needed to get used to the keys that are much closer together and the mouse pad that I can't scroll very well with. Although that might just be me. I don't like the mouse pad things. Is that what it is called? Anyway, once I bought a mouse for it there was no stopping me. I take notes for meetings, browse the internet, review power points and I don't even miss my labtop. I tell everyone about it. "This is a fantastic machine. Forget about the advantages, they are exactly what you would expect. I have only two complaints. First, the battery sticking out of the back makes it darn near impossible to find a properly fitting case or sleeve. Second, the speaker really is sub par for any use. I wonder if the good folks at Toshiba will ever figure out that one advantage of the battery sticking out is as a handle. It makes the netbook very comfortable to hold in the portrait position with ones left hand. This in turn might make an e-book reader application a definite selling point that would be way ahead of the curve with regard to their competitors. Simply make the direction arrows function as the page turning tool. Just an idea, to add to an exceptional machine."

"Thank you for the Mini! I absolutely love the Toshiba Mini NB205-N312/BL! After much disappointment with a Gateway laptop that continually crashed & needed much $$$$ in repairs, I purchased my first 17" Toshiba laptop on 3/15/07...I am happy to say that I have had no problems or repairs and added the mini to my original 17" laptop as my "to go" laptop for all my travel needs or when I'm out & about running errands so that I can continue to work when waiting for appointments ect. I love the ease of use and long battery life! (9 hours) The longest of all brands on the market! I also purchased the Toshiba portable super multi drive to accomodate all my needs with my mini! No disapointment here my two Toshiba's are by far the best laptops I've ever purchased for the money! I'll never buy another brand again...I'm a Toshiba customer for LIFE!"

"I had an Acer netbook and it died on me after less than two years use. After a lot of research I decided on the Toshiba NB205-N312/BL as a replacement. I feel in "love" with it as soon as I turned it on. Great features and the full size keyboard is great. Only thing I do not like is there is nothing to the left of the 1 key, so I need to be careful what typing number. Light weight, long battery life, nice features and design. Overall I think it is the best netbook out there, and better than a lot of laptops."

"Actually i'm very pleased with the mini. I own 2 thinkpads which I use for work, and I compare the mini favorably with them for its good keyboard and other features. I dual boot windows and linux on it and both run well. "I have had my netbook for several weeks now, and I LOVE IT. I also purchased a portable DVD drive so that I could load programs on it. The dvd drive works great. I have not tried to view a dvd on it because that is not something I would ever need to do :) I use it mostly to surf the web and check email. It is very quick, seems to handle having multiple windows open with no problem. The keyboard is easy to get used to. I was most interested in a small netbook/laptop to carry with me when I travel, and this fits the bill perfectly. I chose the Toshiba over others mostly because of its long battery life and the fact that I have owned a couple of other Toshiba notebooks that are still running like a charm. I design websites and have loaded MS FrontPage onto the netbook so that I can update client sites when I travel and it works perfect!"

"The Toshiba NB205-N312BL is one of the best business tools that I have ever purchased. Airport travel is a dream going through those TSA checkpoints. Small compact and easy to handle with out the need for an additional computer carrier. The keyboard is a dream and easy to use even for those of us with clumzy fingers. Printing to a wireless printer is easy to accomplish also, just aquire and fire. the only accessories that I have are a protective sleave and mouse. "I was very excited to be buying a mini, and researched carefully before I chose. Even saw the Toshiba NB205 at a Staples, and handled it. Then it arrived, and I was still pleased. But as I used it, I realized that I missed the speed of a notebook too much, that the lagging screens just were not acceptable to me, that the bulging battery was too awkward to fit into my shoulder bag, and still leave room for wallet and sunglasses, etc. In other words, it was actually too big for me, and too slow. So I returned it within the specified time period, no questions asked, for full refund with no fees. I have not purchased a replacement of any brand. I will wait until performance is improved and a new battery technology makes the battery less obtrusive before I try to jump into this user market again."

"This laptop is the perfect size for travelers, very portable and light. It is easy to carry or put in even a small suitcase. The biggest drawback is that certain programs (like Quicken) want to open sub-windows that are too big for the monitor, and the control buttons aren't usable or even visible so the program is basically locking you out of being able to do anything. I have to Ctrl/Alt/Del and kill the whole program when it happens. The hard drive seems VERY sensitive to shock, but Toshiba has a system that parks the HD to prevent crashes. I would have preferred one with a solid state drive, but none were available with more than a 16 gig drive. If I do not use the netbook for a few days the battery is dead, I do not understand why it is draining with the computer shut completely off. Luckily I don't use it on battery power very much. Overall, a good laptop for the size but it does have it's drawbacks. If not for the problem with the monitor I would give it higher marks."

"First impressions: Very attractive case with sleek design. Lightweight with superior battery life. The chicklet keyboard initially seems a bit cheap, but in reality it is the best design for a tiny laptop. A regular keyboard with touching keys would be prone to "fat finger" errors for people with large hands. I had some trouble configuring the Wi-Fi card to find my home router. It wouldn't find my network until I reconfigured my G router to make the SSID visible. This makes my home network a bit less secure. I don't know if it has the same issue with N routers."
