"Of my five computers since 1986, this Toshiba 10-inch, 3-pound gem is my favorite. I love to use it in my lap watching TV. I like to take it with me on trips. I am proud to show it to my friends who are unanimously impressed. I have had some problems with firewalls and key strokes. But, overall, I love this Toshiba."

"it needs a while to get used to it, but then you will love it! I have a minor issue while typing a text, the cursor jumps up into another line and I have to correct it. Why? I do not know. The battery life is really great. After a 5 hours flight I had still 40% left. The keyboard is easy to handle. The keystroke could be sometimes a little bit softer. It is a netbook, not a notebook. It does not replace a full functional notebook, that must be clear prior you will purchase it. I love my new toy."

"Overall, I think this is a really good laptop. One exception: I am experiencing a cursor with a mind of its own! No kidding...my cursor jumps around. If I start typing, and I look up at the screen, I'll see that I'm "someplace" other than where I should be."

"Tried to work with bunch of netbooks before I set up my mind on Toshiba. The keyboard and touch pad is very convenient comparing to others, also the design is very neat. And the battery life is amazing, I can work every evening for an hour on the laptop than put it in hibernation and I don't need to charge it for week!"

"I really enjoyed having this netbook, it was convenient to carry from class to class. However, I took it back to the store because I did not like the Windows XP that was on it. It now comes with Windows & so I have ordered a new one. The only two things thatI had problems with was the fact that the oil from my fingers would transfer from the keyboard keys to the screen which made reading the screen sometimes difficult. Also I had problems with the touch pad being touched when typing. More than once I accidentally highlighted things I was typing and kept typing erasing the information. I did find a way to avoid this by turning off the touch pad, however that made it hard to put emphasis on vital information. Overall I thought that the speed of the product was good."

"Some things are kind of slow but that is the nature of the beast. I think this computer needs at least 3GB or Ram but have not seen that on the web site. When you open internet explorer, and go to a different URL, the computer does not stay in that website. It goes back. Have that happen several times using the touch pad but when you use a wireless mouse it does not do that. I use this with an air card quite a bit and works great. This computer has become my main computer for my business."

"I needed a tiny lightweight notebook for work and the netbook fit the bill. The problem was which one? Between battery life, keyboard etc. I was confused. Then I saw the Toshiba. Took it for a test drive at the store and was sold. It's got a solid great key board and track pad of all the other nets that I've looked at. The screen and viewing is fantastic. It gets me up on the net quickly, and I bring up images with clear resolution. The battery life is amazing. I go a whole day at work on a charge. None of the others that I looked had a battery that could handle it. My only peeve is that the battery sticks out the back, making it impossible to place in my lab coat. So, I altered my lab coat to fit it! Even though it was a bit pricer than others, I was willing to pay it for the quality it gives me. I started a trend at work."

"The mini notebook, NB205-N311W took me three weeks to buy. I was comparing all the latest netbooks that were coming out. I needed something lighter and smaller to carry around school. I'm an IT major specializing on the security side of the IT field. Carrying around a 17" laptop or even a 14" inch laptop isn't conducive when going from site to site, lab to lab, and the battery life on full size laptops isn't great. I need more than three hours. The toshiba netbook had looked great and the reviews that I had read prior to buying it were nothing but praise. However, I still did my research. Amongst all the netbooks, it had the abilities and features that I needed. My second choice was an asus, but I'm glad that I didn't go that route. The toshiba has not let me down so far. I nice size keyboard and touch pad are a plus and a surprise when dealing with the toshiba netbook. The battery life doesn't hurt either. After upgrading the ram from 1 to 2 gig and the hard drive to a 320 hdd, I'm tripple booting windows xp, windows 7 and the ubuntu. In all three, I haven't had any problems. All information and software I need are all available. Everyone should go out and buy this netbook."

Small, full of features, reliable, and the battery usually lasts 7-8 hours before I even have to worry about it! Love this computer. In fact, I am in Nicaragua on my Netbook as I write this review. "Tested many different netbooks. This was one of the few that had upgradable RAM, and had a normal size right shift key. I came close to purchasing the new Sony netbook, but the deciding factor was that the Sony has a tiny shift key that is right beside the arrows...made typing word documents impossible. I love my Toshiba and would recommend it highly."

My cell phone (iPhone via AT&T) doesn't offer tethering so this is definitely a limiting feature. "I hate to sound gushing in this title but after buying this machine for my mother to use, I was so impressed with it I bought one for myself. Pluses: keyboard is very comfortable; battery life is exceptional; 2G ram upgrade gives it desktop feel; design is smart, professional; power management system is brilliant. I've run streaming Netflix to my TV with excellent results. I've just ordered my second battery, which means I'll be able to work without a power cord for anywhere from 16-20 hours. It is just amazing. I don't have any negatives. (And after ordering the battery, someone from Toshiba called to confirm my mailing adderss which I thought was pretty cool.) Toshiba put a lot of work into this product and it shows. This is my first Toshiba product and based on my experience with it, Toshiba will be my vendor of choice going forward."

Though I found that the Toshiba has the best battery storage and usage than Asus. 9.5Hrs of battery is true as it does what it says in the advertisings. Plus the Keyboard is Pebble type and is a full keyboard. I'm VERY Happy I chose this Toshiba NB205 Netbook! I recommend you jump on this model too!!!!"

"I have found the Toshiba and excellent machine. Had/have some miner problems: 1) Too much extraneously Toshiba software add-ons. Slows down the machine. Deleted almost all, made the machine more efficient. 2) Problems with the Toshiba "find wireless internet service". It found it the first time and it properly made the connection. The next few times it recognized that I made the connection, but would not let me connect. I deleted the software, and now just use Windows for this operation with no problem. 3) Battery life is a true plus. 4) Some comments have been made about the small TAB key... not a problem."

"I was in the market for a NetBook and found this gem. It is well put together and the easy to use keyboard was one of the biggest selling points. The stylish exterior (I chose White) was an added bonus, as it does not attract fingerprints, and does not look like a flimsy plastic toy like other NetBooks. The WiFi capabilities are excellent as well as overall performance. The Toshiba software which allows you to easily Zoom in and out helped as I adjusted to the smaller screen size which was a consequence of the NetBook form factor. Only two minor issues so far, both easily addressed. Default trackpad settings provide browser forward and back functionality which was annoying, but easily disabled. YouTube and Hulu videos played perfectly, but the speakers are quiet. My iPod headphones did the trick and sound awesome. For those in the market for a NetBook it is worth paying a few dollars more for this well put together solid performer."

I had had no glitches, errors, or failures as yet. I transport this in a backpack, in a van, and have hiked with it without it indicating any effects of abuse. So far I have to say that I am entirely satisfied with the machine and I look forward to putting it through its paces. Aesthetically it is a nice piece of equipment, and while others may be just a little bit smaller, lighter, and glossier they tend to be prone to scratching and scuffing the finish with anything more than boardroom use."

When I consider both computers, there is no comparison. My Toshiba is by far a more superior product. It fells solid and has many more energy saving wizards build in to help me get the most out of my battery life. So far I can keep the unit up and running or on hibernate all day long on one battery charge. I did replace the 1GB of ram for 2 GB - this should be standard from Toshiba. "i did a lot of reasearch before i picked the tosh, the battery life was a big plus but the screen res turned me off a bit! would have liked somthing better than 1024. i charged the first night i had it and it is thursday now and i still have over 50% and i use for about an hour to two a night. it is lite and easier to have on you lap as oposed to the HP monster i had before. I like the fac ti runs XP and at the forst opertuiny (once all the drivers are out) i will put windows 7 on it but untill then i will keep XP."

"I love this mini netbook. It is great to take into my classrooms to record observations. We also do our assessments online and it has been super to work with my classroom teachers to review children's progress. We will probably obtain more netbooks for our staff. yeah"

"I love it except that it has a very bad habbit of changing things all buy itself due to the single click on the mouse pad. This needs to be changed to a double click or even disabled (prefered) as it douse have 2 mouse buttons that work. It took me 3 trys to get here and that is typical with this machine when I forget to bring my trackball. It really needs more USB ports but it is ok with only 3 IF the click problem is corrected so I will actually have 3 usable ports. external DVD needs 2. external HD likes 2 but some get away with 1 sostill no room for mouse when only 3 usb. 5 would be better. A usb expander is ok except it needs external power."

"My husband purchased the NB200 for me thinking it would be portable and good quality. The sound is terrible. It seems to be 'proprietary' like Sony - only the Toshiba portable DVD drive works with it. We didn't realize how much it heats up, it is awful. We thought of HP and should have with it."

"I'm an airline crew member and this wee net book has done wonders for my down time on layovers and ease of commuting sans the weight and cumbersome size of my traditional laptops. I love the long battery life and the keyboard over others that I have tried before. Thank you Toshiba for a great product."

"I have had no problems at all adjusting to this mini. I love it. The portability is fantastic and the performance is great. I have a Toshiba satellite laptop that I love as well. I have vista on the laptop ( no problems at all ) and going back to xp is a breeze. I found it very user friendly with network set up as well. I would have to give it an A+."

"The Netbook is a wonderful addition to our computer "family". I do wish it had real speakers, however. The little one on the bottom just doesn't cut it and to recommend that we go buy external powered speakers is a little disappointing. The netbook makes the seventh Tosiba product in our family, so I obviously like Toshibas/"

"I love this mini. I already have a Satellite A215-S5837 which I love too but I wanted something more compact that would be easy to carry when I travel and could do much of what my main laptop does (check email, surf the net). This mini fits the bill, it is a great little laptop. It's small, light and I can fit it in my purse or tote bag. Peformance is excellent, battery life is excellent and the price is right. Toshiba is a name I trust and I would recommend this to my friends and already have."

"Good road warrior unit. I purchased this unit for my continuous traveling that I do. So far so good with connection options, battery life is long, display works well and key board is pleasant to type on. Only complaint is the track pad seems at times to be unresponsive or over sensitive; not sure if its a settings issue (me) or the driver needs an update. I did put windows 7 on this unit for a morning but went back to 'xp' when I lost all the FN key functionality. Windows 7 ran fine on this unit minus the FN key shortcuts."

"This is a great little laptop. Because of its light weight, I often will take it places that would have been too hard to lug my regular, full laptop. The battery life is unbelievably good. My only complaint would be that it loads slowly when you login. I am planning to upgrade my RAM and hope that will speed it up."

"With the 2GB RAM upgrade, surprisingly peppy. I don't see that much difference in performance between my Toshiba netbook and our more powerful desktop machine, as long as I don't too many apps at once. I find it a quite acceptable "backup" PC for those times when the desktop machine is in use."

"The biggest issue is easy to fix. The Hardware Setup Utility from Toshiba is not compatible with Vista, so if you upgrade to Vista you won't be able to enable your wireless network and will be working hooked up until they fix this utility. The memory is good but you could need 2 or 3 GB, but there's just one slot, so you'll have to get rid of the 1GB memory that comes with the laptop. Also, we could use better speakers, at least stereo!"

"My 15" lap top is sometimes to big to carry when I travel and I travel a lot. So I was looking for a smaller one that can still do what my bigger one does. I investigated and researched several mini's and of all brands with my computer tech on the phone with me. This Toshiba n311 mini is by far the best & does just as much if not more than my larger laptop. The only change I made is to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB of memory. Some mini's you can't up grade yet. Keep an eye out for that. They also don't have a DVD slot but bought the add on slim portable & works perfect. Just simply LOVE IT> Thanks TOSHIBA."
