"Touch pad mouse buttons are not good - too small and poor build quality. FIngerprint reader unnecssary. Wireless connection blanks out occasionally - full reboot required. (possibly a Vista problem). Only two USB ports. Slow to respond to wake up (bad OS however). Unnecessarily large power supply, and poor plug design. Otherwise, inconspicous, nice keyboard, good screen and webcam, and sufficiently light given it's size. A better OS would improve this machine."

"Good machine but the keyboard is hideous. Even thought the keys are lighted which is a good thing at night, during the day is another story. If working in an office with a window, the day light makes the keyboard letters fade. Good idea but the keyboard needs some rethinking. At first, I was happy with the lighted keyboard, now I wish I could find someone to sell this machine or even try to convince Toshiba to take its machine and the idea back so I could get something that I could see. I had another Toshiba and also bought a second laptop, not same model as this one along with this machine, so far this one I dont like just because of the keyboard. Definitely, it was not a good buy"

"This laptop has some very nice things about it: the light up key board, the wieght, the slimness. It's overall nicely put together but within the first week i had issues with the hardware. After the second week a BestBuy worker suggested i had a faulty computer. That should never be the case. Weird things happened: For example I couldn't uninstall a program. Also, my keyboard would stall and wouldn't recognize the letters i typed. Finally, It took forever to load up. i don't experience these issues anymore, and i don't know if it is because i have forgot about them or not. Just beware."

"General process in this computer seems fine. Especially I like its weight and slim shape. Its process is quite fast. Good price. not so expensive comparing to cpu, hard capacity, and memory card etc. But only disappointing me is Sound. Its sound is very poor. Actually I expected that most Toshibas would have good sound system. But in this Toshiba, I have to be patient with low sound quality. Anyway, until now after I bought this laptop, I am satisfied with all works in this Toshiba. It was good decision to pick up this one."

I am very happy and greatly satisfied with my Satellite. I got want I expected from Toshiba, a high quality laptop at a very reasonable price. The lighted keyboard is great aid when working at night. "I did a lot of research into buying another laptop and found my Toshiba to be one of the best for the money. For what I paid for I got a laptop with a huge memory drive, fast processor and many other useful features. The lighted keyboard was also a plus. However the one basic feature that I was dissappointed with were the speakers. The quality of music isn't so sharp when compared to other speakers. Music does sound good when you have headphones on."

"I made a very good decision in purchasing this laptop. It is very lightweight and it is the perfect size. I especially like the backlight for the keys. The fingerprint security access is a nice touch. The only issue I have is it does not have ten key on the right of the keyboard. I will be purchasing a ten key attachment. I know I can use the ten key in the middle of the keys (this is a nice touch) I would prefer to use an actual ten key."

"This laptop looks great, works great, and has some really nice features. The battery life has been about 4-5 hours strong. The memory, storage, and graphics have been great for my uses. I use photo editing software frequently with other programs running at the same time and never have a problem. The ONLY thing I have not liked about this machine are the speakers. They are small and provide a poor audio experience. This is not a problem for me very often because I regularly use external speakers. I would highly recommend purchasing this laptop."

"I love that this laptop has so much space on its hard drive, as well as the features like the webcam and the fingerprint reader, and the battery life seems to go on forever (I DID lower performance settings for when it's unplugged, though, so I'm not sure how it would fare with performance at a maximum). It's really an amazing deal for its price. My only issue is that sometimes it seems to load very slowly during start up, or freeze for a few seconds when I'm loading programs. However, that's rare, and it could just be Vista acting up. =) Oh yeah. And the laptop is fricking gorgeous."

"I purchased this laptop a little over a month ago for school and some light gaming. This laptop was the editor's pick on C-Net, and so I felt pretty confident it would be an excellent laptop for school. If you are looking for a laptop with excellent battery life and great portability, this laptop is an excellent choice. The speaker quality is poor, but if you're in a public place you'll probably be using headphones, so that's not too bad. The keyboard has great backlighting, so you won't be hunting for keys in dim lighting. The only area this laptop is lacking is in game performance. If you're looking for a laptop to play some of the newer titles, this laptop is not for you. I tried playing Warcraft 3, and the in-game cinematics chugged a lot. Not having a dedicated video card hurts a lot. The bottom line is that this is an excellent laptop for people who want long battery life in a portable device."

"Nice product features. After using this laptop for a few weeks I can comment on the following: Battery life is great Screen size is what I was looking for. Design and shape of laptop gives you the feel that you are using a pricey macbook. Back lit keyboard definitely is a plus. I haven't had any problems so far and generally just put it to sleep when im done. IT does seem to take a bit to boot up, I was expecting it to boot faster. I do recommend Toshiba to look at their mouse pad. Maybe add a dedicated scroll like HP and it would be nice to have a button to turn it off when you are not using it. Other than that I would have to say if this one is in your price range you will not be disappointed."

Major draqwback are the poor quality speakers and volume output. I have another (cheaper) Toshiba laptop that has very impressive sound and volume. "Everything is great - except the speakers mind as well be turned off. The speakers are very hard to hear even at the top level. I am very dissatisfied with that. Other than the speakers the laptop is a good tool."

"This is my first laptop, so far no complaint yet. I wasn't sure of going with Toshiba....but I liked one of the other design...with Kardon speakers...they ran out of stock on that one and so this was the other one they suggest me getting. The speakers aren't that great. But it's a laptop...can't expect more."

"This is my 3rd Toshiba laptop purchase, I am very impressed with the quality of Toshiba and the value. You can easily spend $250-$300 more for a similar machine from one of the competitors, you get a lot for your money with a Toshiba. I am a recruiter and its not unusual for me to have over 15 resumes open and 10 plus windows open at one time during a business day. With that in mind I needed a processor that was fast and a work horse, I reviewed and reviewed all the laptops available in the price range of $800-$1000. Once again I choose a Toshiba, went with the Dual 2 Core Centrino P7350 with 4mgs of RAM 500 hard drive! Upgrading to the P series processor was well worth the spend, this laptop screams and works like a horse! VISTA Premium runs without hesitation. It does however come with a few complains, 1) Lousy speaker system, my older A305 Laptop speakers (Harmon Kardon) are far better than the DOLBY speakers on the new Satellite E105! 2) The E105 does not have a VGA port, (you can purchase a USB/VGA converter but you would think Toshiba would include this?"

"The Satellite E105-S1602 performs like a desktop and is extremely reliable. I enjoy the built-in video camera and mic. The LED Backlit Keyboard is a welcome feature."

"I've owned 3 Toshiba laptops and this one by far is the best. With 4GB memory, 500GB HDD and a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7350 this computer will more than meet the needs of 95% of home users. You can run multiple screens without loosing performance. Download speeds are seconds instead of minites. A nice feature with this model is the back-lit keyboard which allows one to type in dim lit areas. The 8 cell 5 hour battery is a vast improvement over the old 2 and a half hours batteries. A great deal for the money!"

"I have been through two separate laptops in the last year. Both were Dells and required repairs that were very time consuming. Even when I had them, they locked up frequently. My Toshiba was recommended to me by a friend and thank goodness for that. It has been very reliable and works great with zero issues."

"i love everything about my toshiba, the long battery life and backlit keyboard are my favorite features. my only complaint is the extremly complicated, fingerprint sign in procedure. i felt like i would need a year off from work to figure it out. never gonna use it."

"The 500GB hardrive and 4GB ram provide the power and speed I need for photo storage and editing. The battery life is also useful. Small computer size a plus because weight counts when your transporting cameras, laptop, and other acoutrements via backpack. Criticisms include only two USB ports and no bluray disc capabilities. Also, the manual could be clearer on keyboard operations."

"I have owned many laptops but never wrote a review on one. The first thing about this laptop is that its got that eye catchy finish to it thats smooth, sleek, and stylish. The backlit keyboard definitly catches peoples attention and provides useability in the night. This system is not a high performance gaming laptop in any way but it is a long lasting high performance everydau laptop. Games are an option and do play games quite well except those newer ones within the last 6 months or so. The processor is very efficient and the battery has lots of capacity and ussually lasts about 5 1/2 hours. The extra features of which ive found myself using quite alot is very generous of toshiba at such a low price, bluetooth and wireless N technology, Backlit Keyboard, Surrond Sound system, FM Radio, ESata connection, HDMI output, Biometrics fingerprint reader, and even face identification login system is all included. Your not gonna find a system with this much bang for the buck at a price like this. Best of all it comes standard with a 2 YEAR warranty!"

"My only complaint is the sound quality is not great, nor does it get that loud. Also, part of the keyboard is sticking out of its place, must be a factory defect but hinders the rating I give it. Otherwise I love it, size isnt too big, nor too small. The light up keyboard is a fun and surprisingly useful. Lightweight, the fusion finish on this particular laptop is great for it does not pick up any smudges or fingerprints unlike the other black toshibas laptops. The mouse button is a little hard to click but nothing you cant get use to. As far as performance, it's excellent, however, I feel that Windows Vista prohibits this laptop from performing at it's maximum potential. The entire team at Microsoft that created Vista were fired! and i hope Microsoft will be offering some sort of rebate or free upgrade for frustrated Vista users upon the official release of WIndows 7. Overall, I would say for the sound quality you lose with this laptop, Vista, the hard click of the mouse and the risk of a defect like mine, it should be $100+ cheaper."
